The School of Social Work and Human Services is the oldest and most recognised provider of social work education in Queensland and recently celebrated 50 years of teaching social work.
Professional recognition
We are the only university to receive national accreditation from the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) for our Master of Counselling program and also have accreditation from the Australian Counselling Association (ACA).
The Bachelor of Social Work and the Master of Social Work Studies programs are accredited by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and are recognised internationally as qualifying for practice as a professional Social Worker.

Research strengths
The School has over a long period of time been seen as the benchmark for social work research, according to the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). The School has the infrastructure in place to support both small and large scale projects, and to establish collaborative partnerships both in Australia and overseas. The focus of research includes defining and clarifying social issues, enhancing service delivery at both individual and community level, and initiating and developing policy and programs. Our School was recently assessed as the leading School of Social Work schools in Australia. We produce more doctoral graduates than any other Australian provider of social work education.
